At the Forge

As I took a few hours today to play through that lovely old classic "LOOM", I then got inspired to draw my favorite character from said game. And so, here is Wellwrought "Rusty" Nailbender from the Blacksmiths Guild. He's being uncharacteristically active and productive but I figure that, after the events of the game, he'd get a little motivated to actually be a good Blacksmith. We'd like to hope. It wouldn't be very fun for him to sleep through his nonexistant game -- there was going to be a sequel to LOOM about him. *tear* Oh, the things that could've been. If this isn't the first fanart of him, somebody please tell me because I would just die happy to find more pictures of him out there.

The image was done completely on my computer with the aid of my Graphire 3 Wacom Tablet and Photoshop Elements 3.0.

After doing his hair, I decided to try and make the shading actually look like there was fire behind it like in the image I'd placed there, but I'm not completely satisfied with that and also the effects on the sword he's forging. I'll go through and do touch-ups later, I just wanted to get this up here.

I totally stole the background image off of Google because I really didn't feel like drawing an entire background right then.

EDIT: Also... I know nothing about blacksmiths. Nothing. Therefore, if he should be using gloves or tongs or not have the hilt on the sword already... I don't much care because I'm too lazy to look it up. Next time, I promise a realistic!blacksmith picture of Rusty.
